I'm studying for the SnowPro Core Snowflake certification. I intend to update this blog as I study, for a couple of reasons:
1) I couldn't find any freely available, comprehensive guides on-line
2) If I type stuff up as I learn it, it has more chance of sticking around in my head!
Snowflake has some courses you can pay for, and there are also a number of courses on Pluralsight (which requires a subscription - they do offer a free trial). Full disclosure - I'm a Pluralsight author and I've written one Snowflake course, all about views.
The Snowflake link above will tell you all the basics about the exam, namely:
- Areas covered by the exam
- The cost
- The number of questions
- The amount of time you will be given
- What you need to pass
At the time of writing, the exam costs $175 - I paid around £130 (I'm in the UK). You have to score 750/1000 or higher to pass. There are 100 questions and you're given 115 minutes. As the blog goes on, I'll add example questions. Three question formats are mentioned:
- Multiple Select
- Multiple Choice
- Interactive
Snowflake also offers the chance of taking a practice exam (for a fee, of course!). I'll be taking this at some future point, so keep reading! I've created a PDF document (Snowpro Core Exam Study Areas.pdf) which outlines the key areas of the SnowPro Core exam, it might be worth printing a copy of this out.
To finish off this inaugural blog post, here's the subject breakdown with the percentage each subject contributes to the exam.
| Domain | Domain Weightings on Exams |
| Snowflake AI Data Cloud Features & Architecture | 25% |
| Account Access and Security | 20% |
| Performance Concepts | 15% |
| Data Loading and Unloading | 10% |
| Data Transformations | 20% |
| Data Protection and Data Sharing | 10% |
There's a lot for us to digest there, see you next time when we start delving into some proper Snowflaking!
